Orthopedics East has a convenient on-site magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine to assist our providers in the diagnose and treatment of a number of different medical conditions. An MRI is a non-invasive procedure and utilizes magnets instead of ionizing radiation (x-rays).

MRIs are ordered when certain diagnosis' may not be assessed adequately with other imaging methods such as an x-ray, ultrasound or computed tomography (CT or CAT scanning). MR imaging uses a powerful magnetic field, radiowaves and a computer to produce detailed pictures of soft tissues, bones and virtually all other internal body structures. Sometimes an injection is performed with contrast, known as an arthrogram, which will give more detail for some types of studies.

All of our MRI images are read and interpreted by board certified radiologists from CNY Diagnostic Imaging.
